From the Beginning
The Lord has truly blessed our church. He has taken us from humble beginnings as a small mission church to the growing congregation we are today. Only God's grace could have brought us so far.
- 1881
- Organized and constituted as a Southern Baptist Church.
- 1889
- Moved into first building at 714 Locust Street.
- 1912
- After the original building was destroyed by fire, a new building was constructed on the same site.
- 1960
- A new Sunday School building was completed.
- 1970
- Sunny Day Ministry begins.
- 1972-1978
- Bus Ministry was in operation.
- 1974
- Long Wharf concerts begin.
- 1986
- Church body votes to relocate to 501 Glenburn Avenue.
- 1991
- Church moves into new building at 501 Glenburn Avenue after five years of planning and construction by members.
- 1993
- May 16th, Sanctuary completed by members. Church dedicated to God's glory!
- 2011
- First Baptist Church of Cambridge celebrates it's 130th anniversary.
