From the Beginning

The Lord has truly blessed our church. He has taken us from humble beginnings as a small mission church to the growing congregation we are today. Only God's grace could have brought us so far.

 

1881
Organized and constituted as a Southern Baptist Church.
1889
Moved into first building at 714 Locust Street.
1912
After the original building was destroyed by fire, a new building was constructed on the same site.
1960
A new Sunday School building was completed.
1970
Sunny Day Ministry begins.
1972-1978
Bus Ministry was in operation.
1974
Long Wharf concerts begin.
1986
Church body votes to relocate to 501 Glenburn Avenue.
1991
Church moves into new building at 501 Glenburn Avenue after five years of planning and construction by members.
1993
May 16th, Sanctuary completed by members. Church dedicated to God's glory!
2011
First Baptist Church of Cambridge celebrates it's 130th anniversary.
